Beyond training students and fellows, there are few ways that master clinicians can pass on their knowledge, wisdom and experience. Writing a book is one of them.
This book provides a very well organized overview of CBT for PTSD, plus in-depth discussions of troublespots that are likely to come up. Drs Zayfert and Becker’s writing style is concise and they provide a range of case illustrations. The handouts that are part of the book will be valuable for patients, and the authors graciously permit photocopying for this purpose. While their wealth of clinical experience obviously informs the book and how to adapt the process to differing client needs, it is also solidly grounded in empirical practices. Strongly recommend for students or professionals.
By CBT Clinician
Zayfert & Becker have produced a fine clinical workbook with well-presented vignettes which illustrate practice issues, along with helpful handouts designed to enhance client involvement in homework exercises. This book offers a functional approach to casework which is amenable to use by the busy clinician.
